Tissus urbains

Jan 23–July 10, 2021
Curated: Marc Bembekoff
La Galerie, centre d’art contemporain, Noisy-le-Sec

The exhibition presents drawings, maquettes, and sculptural works examining urban spaces through architectural observation and research. Metro stations, squares, and agoras, including Gare du Nord, Alexanderplatz, Kotti, and Les Halles, are reworked to consider social interaction and the organisation of public space.

Several works were developed during a residency in Noisy-le-Sec and focus on the area surrounding La Galerie, particularly the Esplanade Simone-Veil. A large-scale maquette of the neighbouring tower blocks reproduces the façades of the 1970s buildings, while their reverse sides incorporate patterns derived from local visual cultures. An oversized wall map of Noisy-le-Sec offers an alternative reading of the municipality, countering standardised urban representations.
