Moritzplatz („Licht, Luft und Sonne“ / "Light, air and sun”) 2017 Pen, pencil and acrylic paint on canvas Dimensions: 170 x 180 cm Taking Moritzplatz as its starting point, this work examines and maps the greater pressures and less seen forces impacting this area today—from historic events (the devastation caused by 2WW bombing and the scars of the Berlin Wall); to proposed urban planning projects (the planned 1960’s highway, A106, with proposed interchange at Oranienplatz); to the ideologies found within language both historic and contemporary; to finally, the most recent pressure, that of skyrocketing real-estate prices and Airbnb.
